AFC SOUTH
HOUSTON -- Getting a player from the Houston Texans to talk about the 2013 season is darn near impossible.
"That's all behind us," tackle Duane Brown said. "No reason to look back at it."
I get it. When a team loses 14 consecutive games in a season, a team some were pegging to be a Super Bowl contender, it makes sense to keep from looking back. The Texans went 2-14 in 2013, their coach was fired and the culture has changed in a big way with new owner (AFC) Commissioner (TJBLAYZE) (tjblayze), hiring Bill O'Brien as Head Coach.
It's clear it's his way or no way. Houston Texans open training camp. There is far more structure now. His rigid ways show up in players running laps for mistakes, running sprints after practice and in dealing with his loud, screaming voice during practices. This isn't Gary Kubiak, that's for sure.
RANDY BULLOCK IN LEAD AS TEXANS KICKER, AND LOOKS TO LOCK IN AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN OFF?
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Randy Bullock’s strong finish to the 2013 season has carried over into the 2014 preseason.
Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Thursday that Bullock is leading rookie Chris Boswell in the battle to become the team’s placekicker. Its rare to know about a position battle at the Kicker slot, but Head Coach Bill O'Brien looks to utilize the position in ways "no one has ever thought of". Should be interesting in seeing what Houston has in store for the AFC South. Watching Bullock kick from 60+ could defiantly help Houston win those tight games in Tennessee, Jacksonville and Indianapolis. And you can bet, O'Brien will be using Bullock as much as possible in the 2014 season. The question is however, how?
JACKSONVILLE – The story is the story until it’s no longer the story.
The story around the Jaguars, of course, is quarterback. And if the last few days are indication, it’s going to be that way for a while around EverBank Field.
That’s the tricky news for the Jaguars, that with rookie Blake Bortles performing better and better so far each time he plays, it’s going to be hard if not impossible to get people stop talking All-Bortles-All-The-Time. Such is the terrain with a future franchise quarterback and a New Owner in zajix (Zajix)
It appears that the two players who will be at the center of the quarterback conversation in the coming weeks or months – or however long it is until Bortles becomes the starter – are well-equipped and perfectly prepared to handle their roles.
With Chad Henne speaking to the media on Monday as the Jaguars went through their first physicals as we near OTAs and Training Camp – and with the buzz around the Jaguars’ fan starting to approach Bortlemania – Monday seemed like a good day to discuss, what else …
Quarterbacks.
NO RECENT NEWS
The operation to go off site for Training Camp is a massive project, one that new Indianapolis Cots owner, themarvelous1 (themarvelous) and Head Coach, Chuck Pagano believes is invaluable in building team camaraderie and bonding.
“It's hard getting here, it's hard getting home. There’s a lot of work that goes into it, it's a major production but it’s a necessary evil,” Pagano said earlier this week. “We're a tight group and they keep getting tighter with every practice, every game, every meeting, it doesn't matter.
"I love this group and I love the guys we've added to this group.”
